Perceptions of AI brands

As a fast-growing and transformative technology, AI-related content is on the rise, with most respondents reporting that they have seen AI-related content from various vendors, with Open AI, Microsoft and Google being the most visible.

We measured how IT and business leaders rate the brands they have seen content from in terms of innovation, trustworthiness and relevance. It’s no great surprise that given the very cutting-edge nature of AI, perceptions are generally strongest for innovation, particularly for OpenAI, Microsoft and AWS. Most also scored these brands well in how relevant their solutions are to their needs. However, the exception to this is Meta, where respondents appear to require more convincing. Trustworthiness is a key challenge for AI brands, with most brands seeing lower scores, with Meta, again, facing more scrutiny than other brands.

AI brand usage trends

As AI vendors compete for market dominance, our Vanson Bourne Community members report that Microsoft has gained a prominent position in the AI market in terms of usage, following the full launch of Copilot at the end of 2023, with Open AI a close second.

IT and business leaders report feeling a lack of confidence in utilising AI effectively, with a strong reliance on external service providers for strategy and governance.

With one in ten reporting that their organisation doesn’t have an AI strategy in place, and only 30% reporting a high level of confidence in their AI effectiveness, there is a long journey ahead to fully adopt and feel the benefits of AI. However, using external services providers to help develop and implement AI strategies is one solution that 69% of IT and business leaders are using to accelerate their organisation’s along the route to AI effectiveness.
