AI vendors contend for supremacy in a competitive UK market

Recently, numerous vendors have made a series of announcements about the release of new versions of their AI models.

From Meta (Llama) to Google (Gemini Pro) and from Mistral (Mixtral) to Open AI (GPT-4 Turbo) and pretty much any other vendor you could think of, the rate at which technology is being launched onto the market is almost unprecedented.

The sense of urgency is understandable. With AI set to disrupt the technology market in much the same way that EVs have disrupted the automotive market and online shopping has disrupted traditional bricks-and-mortar retail, the stakes are high.

Following the full launch of Copilot in November 2023 and some quite aggressive marketing, Microsoft seems to be establishing a degree of prominence in the AI market in terms of usage.

As AI vendors vie to secure a strong market position, we are reminded that launching a new product involves more than just market relevance. It also requires a compelling offer and a well-crafted go-to-market strategy.

Brand perceptions and communications effectiveness are vital to these endeavours. The market research is clear on that point. Vanson Bourne’s AI barometer gives strong indications as to which brands are currently well positioned to exploit the opportunities afforded by growing demand for AI solutions.
